I hate Limp Bizkit.

Actually, I used to love them when I heard their first album when I was in the ninth grade. I thought it was new and innovative. Something I had never heard before. It was loud and scary and it got me pumped up. Me and my friends listened constantly. We went to the Family Values Shows. Bought shirts. Wore backwards red hats (just kidding). It was fun.

After that it was a downhill slide. Album after album of nauseatingly horrible music. From then on we all gradually got disgusted with them, namely Fred Durst. Every new song was worse than the last. The videos were just hilarious and it was increasingly hard to take them seriously. I wrote them off along with the rest of the world as a blight on the face of all that was music and my otherwise impeccable record of genius in finding amazing new artists. Eventually I think everyone forgot why they liked them in the first place. It really is an odd thing. I believed that everyone assumed that they must have been high, that they were always this ridiculous joke of a band.

I hate Limp Bizkit.

We all hate Limp Bizkit.

That was until the other day I was thinking about this whole thing. I was wondering what I ever saw in them. I was probably just a dumb kid with shitty taste in music. I was swaying to the pressure of my friends. Either way I decided that I would steal their music off the interweb. I downloaded Significant Other and 3 Dollar Billz Y\'all. I started with S O and slowly the words to all of the songs started to come back to me. I\'ll give them this- some of these songs are pretty listenable, not exactly good, but listenable. It made no impression on me that I didn\'t expect. Then it was on to 3 Dollar Billz Y\'all. I started at the beginning. There's this intro, a preacher screaming into a megaphone about noise and pollution. I completely forgot this existed and it piqued my interest.

To my complete surprise the rest of the album excluding that ridiculous cover of that overplayed George Michael song absolutely floored me. I couldn\'t believe how impressive it was. Now I might be overstating how good it really is but I really could see why I liked it so much. It\'s raw and dirty and loud. It is different, way different than any album of theirs after that and anything in music before. It\'s not the best album ever, but it is very good. The guitar is fucking beautiful and the screams are so scary and good. I recommend everyone to go back and re-listen to this album. It won\'t change your life but I think you\'ll enjoy it.

So, I still hate Limp Bizkit. They have become cliche\'s of themselves and it\'s sad. It\'s sad because they maybe could have kept making good music but they didn\'t. They sold out and have become what everyone hates, everything that is wrong with music.

Boo hoo. \r\n\r\n
