Last week I found out that a month previously, one of our WoW guildmates had passed away.
We did not have any idea until recently, but we did notice that he stopped coming online. At first we thought that one of our decisions to move from one raid area in wow to another had the affect of him taking a break, we realized just now that was not the case.
It hurts, loosing a friend, but what about our online families?
Brith, well myself and other members of our guild, we have know him close to 6-7 years through various games, genre, and alt characters.
I suppose what I would like to submit to you, my online peeer, is that those friends we make online are just as important as those we make in 'real life' although you would have to try very hard to show me that my online family are not my 'real life' friends. When we have some one close pass, there is a sense of closure. Ther eis a memorial to go to, and many things can be done to help with the grieving process, but for us of the online ilk, it is much tougher.
Anyway, hope that no one ever has to experience this, but it is always sad. Best wishes.
