I just saw the ultimate sign that this country is going to hell.

Passing by McDonald's, I saw a sign advertising their new sandwich.

A DOUBLE Big Mac.

As if the first one wasn't making peoples' asses big enough as it is.

Last time I was in Texas (1999? 2000?) we went through a McDonalds and there was actually a size ABOVE "supersize." "TexasSize!" You could actually get a BIGGER order than a supersize.

Ewwwww.

The funny thing about having a job is how, even if you don't really like it, you live in terror of losing it. I am being reminded of this situation very clearly these days.

I won't go into the full details of what is going on at work; I'll just summarize it as follows: there's been a restructuring, and it appears that the office I...

I'm posting this journal entry just as a favor to Olivia.

That's why it's not funny, thought-provoking, or even interesting, really.

It's just here.
er:
was that an empty threat...that you'd be putting up more pictures...hmmm?
jake_lex:
I have to find pictures I want to put up. I might end up having someone take more of me (no naked ones, not yet; I'm not SB material. tongue )

Of course, too, I'll need to work on my Photoshop skills to get the pictures to look OK. tongue

So I just watched this documentary on Cambodia, and the rise of the Khmer Rouge.

Basically, here's what happened: the United States decided that the government of Cambodia needed to go, because it was supporting people they didnt' like (in this case, the Viet Cong). So they engineered a coup and overthrew them, replacing that government with one more in line with the United States'...

Yeah, I learned a fair bit about that from Swimming to Cambodia. I have to say, I found StC to be even more elucidating and sad than The Killing Fields, with the bonus of being funny at times too...I should prob rewatch both films soon.
Afghanistan and Iraq are sooooo unstable now....

My dreams are quite clear, so it's easy to remember them. Having an active part in them adds to that ease.

I hope my cats never get this lazy: despite the fact that there are 3 cats who live in my mother's house, a rat was running around freely in there. The rat even ate some of their food, and shat in their litter box, in probably the most brazen display of sheer contempt any member of the rodent family has shown for members of the...

Funny, I was watching Y Tu Mama Tambien this afternoon then went to look at your profile...

I liked it okay....ending kinda made me boohooey.

That rat is way too, that is just...what a dicky rat. Ahh, I suppose I wouldn't a killed him either, but damn what a dick rat. But you know, the cats were kinda ridiculous too. They were enabling.

Run Lola Run's good...but I might like The Princess & the Warrior more. They are pretty different. Heaven was good too; Tykwer at 3-for-3 in my book.
punkinhead:
Earth first? No joke. thats wierd - the fictional monkeywrench gang weren't political - they were outlaws. Thats a key difference.

thanks for pointing that out. i was hitchhicking and traded a crappy Tom Clancy for it way, way back in the day. I eventually traded it for a copy of Chineese Astrology for Beginners

you need to get your mom's cats on a regimine. the litter box thing . . . now that's classic disrespect. Like saying "I'm more rodant than you can handle and more feline than you'll ever be."

btw, way to be on coltrane and bowie.

take it light,

This story amuses me. Bernie Ebbers, former CEO of the ultra-sleazy WorldCom, missed a $25 MILLION payment on a loan that they'd made to him and is now in default.

I wonder if they'll try to go after that money as hard as they went after the $90 they said I owed that I didn't (the ass-monkeys credited a $100 check I wrote them as...

My moment of paranoia for the day:

I was in the parking lot of a shopping center, going to get some Chinese takeout (mmmmmm sesame chicken). There was a guy standing in the parking lot, and I noticed he had a camera. Then I noticed he seemed to be pointing it at me. So I wondered "Is he taking my picture? And, if so, why?"...

I just got back from the store, and again I was struck by how angry some people must be. I was backing out of a space, my sight partially blocked by a big truck to my left. As I backed out, I guess another car was coming. It honked at me, twice, and I stopped. I didn't hit this other car, and I don't think...

Little run-ins like that annoy me to no end. Partially because I AM sometimes at fault - but people are unnecessarily mean. Yeah, people are angry. Most smarties agree that most people are stupid. It becomes a lot worse when they overlap.

Oh, by the way, yeah, Franka Potente is mmmm, mmm good.

Gaylord is a boring little town full of small-minded people, but I'll be happy to see my family. It's NOT a permanent move. tongue

Last night, I fell down and skinned the hell out of my knee. I tripped over a laundry basket; I'd been doing laundry and I finished too late to put it up, so I'd left it out on the floor. Somehow, the way I fell led to my leg scraping over the basket as I went down, and then, to make things even worse, I...

Absolutely true story: just now, I remembered that I hadn't looked at today's new set. So I got on here to check it out. I got to the home page and I saw a picture of Hubert Selby. And, for a second, I thought that was the set.

Oh, I love Hubert Selby. I loved both "Last Exit to Brooklyn" and "Requiem for a Dream."...
