I've been wicked busy and also... wicked sick. My body has taken a beating this week!

I got stung by some mysterious monster bug. Probably some mysterious monster bug from a land far far away-- as it most likely found me while in a taxi that had come from the aeroport.

So, mysterious monster bug stings me... ready? On the ass. :eektongueerfect. It swells up bigger than a twoonie INSTANTLY, rock hard. It's pulsing and has this hot-hot pain and I feel it all over. I have a wicked allergic reaction to it. Almost used my epi-pen but took a shit-ton of my power anti-histamines, passed out before I did. Luckily, woke up. Fucked but ok.

So morning 1 of this fiasco, I'm in TONS of pain and can barely walk. Try to take a shower but the heat is brutal, even the steam. The bite is hugely swollen and sore but numb-ish and 2x the size in red. I'm feverish and kind of giddily delirious. I wake up with tiny weird bloodspots under my skin (later attributed to my reaction to the sting).

Day 2 begins, I'm still in tons of WEIRD pain deep in my limbs on the same side as the bite. I start getting crazy exhausted, feeling this extreme fatigue and ache everywhere. The bite still has a pulse of it's own. I start feeling fever, but I don't really process it. I keep complaining about hot shocks in my limbs.

Day 3, I wake up with my throat on fire and my head in a vice. My girlfriend convinces me to go to the clinic, because this thing is not passing like a normal sting. The doc tells me that if it were fatally neurotoxic, I'd probably be beyond fucked already and gives me a whole slew of prescriptions. At this point, my immune system is shot, and I magically get a cold. I can't go to work because I've got a fever of 102.7 ... All hell breaks loose in work land, but that's another story.

The next day, the bite is starting to chill with all the medicine. I'm still feverish and now I've got a flu-ish situation.

Day 5 (Sunday), I'm still feverish and sick as a dog. Immune system all haywire from poison bug = immune system not helping out with regular illness. TMI, yea, but my ovary-uterus situation is super pissed at me. Docs have been telling me I most likely have endometriosis but I have to go for this wacky test to be sure (where they put holes in my abdomen I guess?!?!) which I've been avoiding, avoiding, avoiding... But this was a perfect time for my body to give me a really clear indicator that the docs are right and I'm in horrible pain and the crimson tide is a fuckin tsunami. WTF BODY WTFFFFFF

Day 6 (Monday), I return to work. Still have a lowgrade fever. I get home and decide to make dinner for Shaine, Cass17, my lady, et moi. I'm stircrazy and tired of feeling useless. So, I'm cooking. I know how to cook, use a stove, all this nonsense. I touch my leg to the stove at some point and wow!!! It feels SO hot! For a second, I think I've burned myself though I can't understand why the oven would burn me, especially since it is off. I'm holding a fork in one hand (to spear a piece of pasta and check if it's done). My hand touches the stove and I get this wild jolt and the fork starts vibrating! Suddenly, I've got this weird pain all in my leg, from ankle to thigh, and the thumb that touched the stove is miserable as well. OH! The stove has a livewire or something and I got doubly shocked!surreal Then I get just a minor burn later, right on a tattoo, so the tattoo gets annoyed and swollen.

OK SERIOUSLY?
I'm about to be done complaining but ENOUGH ALREADY! frown

I'm leaving for Vancouver tomorrow. My body needs to be near the ocean. I definitely need to reconnect with the earth and heal. Man, do I feel fucking battered. blackeyedblackeyedblackeyed

Lessons learned:

Trust no creepy ass spider in a taxi (which is what this presumably was. I'd have to go to specialist or a major hospital to know for sure, and I don't know any specialist in ass-biting spiders).

Trust no vintage stove to have good wiring.

Do not assume that just because you get your shift covered and have a more than valid excuse to not be at work that it's ok for you to not be there.

Don't count on the week before you go away to be a week to get everything done. Bahahaha, what a joke!!

Either way, I'm pretty lucky. The doc told me whatever stung me was definitely quite poisonous *and* I was allergic to it (I think this is a stupid thing though-- wouldn't anyone react like this to something poisonous?!). The medical system in QC is super over-burdened and it's not easy, IMO, to get thorough medical examinations, so though the doc half-assed it for sure... it was better than nothing.

It could have been way worse. I'm lucky I made it through the first night because the reaction I was having hindered my ability to think straight and I probably should have taken epinephrine when my lips and throat started swelling. I'm lucky my antihistamines worked enough to stop me from going into shock. I'm lucky that bug bit me and not my cat because it probably would have killed her. frown frown frown

Now I've got 197395739725 things to do before Van. Let's hope I do not find any more monster bugs or poorly wired appliances, or Mac trucks, or alligators, or anything. Ha ha ha.

Enjoy your week everyone!!!!!!! Hopefully I have some lovely photos of beautiful BC to share with you when I come back!!!!
