Man of man, what a Christmas. Lunacy, always. I don't much like the materialistic/consumerist crap that overtakes the holiday, and of course I don't care for the religious aspect of it, but I do really like getting together with people and giving them things which I've either bought them or made them, letting them know I've been thinking of them ... or just seeing them smile! I was really broke this year so even my ability to make people things was pretty limited because I have been to busy and spread thin to feel particularly resourceful.
But I also got some really nice things. The boy got me an easel and the wood is unfinished; he wants to finish it and stain it himself because I'm so particular about wood.
I also got a lightbox and some great drawing paper from my parents,, as well as some new paintbrushes, some Baudelaire, also... a stolen bottle of Lychee wine, one of my brothers got me GORGEOUS black wood salad tongs or whatever from Nubia (???) - all the profits went to poverty alleviation efforts there- and my other brother got me a huge mirror really cool mirror. My family is huge so I always end up with way more than things than I need, but at least the gifts are always really thoughtful and interesting.
I spent 2 days in Connecticut which was half lovely half hellish, I don't know. Emotionally, this has been a bizarre trip.. Family is always a strange thing for me to deal with, as much as I love them, I'm somehow always on the outside looking in. Sometimes I just don't want to bother to look anymore, and I wonder if I stopped peering in the window if they;d bother to invite me in the door.
I've been so so so happy to see my brothers... One of my brother's is a year and a few months younger than me which is an interesting dynamic. We're really different. He's a semi-pro football player, a weight lifting champ, he's been on reality TV (jeez), blahblahblah. My other brother is totally into rock n roll which makes OUR relationship pretty predictable I think LOL.
Well, my dog has a really weird haircut so he looks like he is wearng furry chaps or something. Hahahaha.
I am still in New York so my brain is in 40 places. Gotta run....! I want a tofurkey snadwich with veganaise and the cray herb-salad mix my parents have and spicy mustard and picked pepperoncini.
