Never Too Late to Learn to Draw

Good evening! And good day to those on the other side of the planet!

I thought I'd share what videos I've been watching to improve my drawings. I'm watching a YouTuber called MikeyMegaMega. This is the link to his channel:

YouTube: MikeyMegaMega

He draws a lot of sexy boudoir girls that really inspire me. I haven't been too risqué with my characters at this time, but it's always nice to get the body shapes and proportions right and these basic concepts are easier to grasp with less clothing. Also, suggestive/sexy poses are harder to draw than I realized, as body positioning and poses can be quite dynamic. There's more than you'd think that goes into one of those poses: eyes, lips, facial expressions, presentation, pose... when you look closely at a drawing or picture like this, its amazing how much information our brains process to visually recognize something as "sexy," nearly all of it subconscious and automatic.

With enough practice, I may even be able to make excellent caricature drawings of real-life models as references. That's a goal of mine.

And to prove you do learn something new every day, Mikey often refers to the implement used to correct pencil mistakes as a "rubber."

For the Anglophone enthusiasts:

🇬🇧rubber 🇺🇸eraser

I love learning UK English differences, it's fascinating to me.

The US viewers know of rubbers as condoms. This is even more hilarious when Mikey says he's going to "rub it out," which is US slang for, well, you know. Especially relevant considering the content of some of his drawings.

So now, one could possibly think of the act of servicing oneself as simply correcting mistakes. Food for thought.

Until next time

J
