I had a helluva time gettin' to sleep last night. It was after 6 this morning when I finally dropped off and then I had to get up at 7:30 for work. All the time I laid in bed, my mind kept wandering. Mostly I thought about how I've lost touch with past friends. Its quite amazing when you start to think back, and people that you thought you would be friends with forever, you've completely lost touch with. Kyle, my first best friend, I haven't seen him in probably more than 15 years. Jason, my cohort throughout high school, its been at least 10 years(I hear he got married and is living in AZ). And then there's my whole fire crew. When I left the fire company, I never looked back. Some of them have kids now, from what I've seen in the paper. For a small town, its easy to get lost here. And then there's Adam and Rob...those two guys I know I can always count on. We may not see each other everyday any more, but I know if I ever need them, they'd be there.
Somethin' inside me says I should reach out to some of these people, but then I think, hey, if they wanted to they could've just as well kept in touch with me. I guess more over I just figure that if they wanted me in their life, they would call or somethin'. Besides, its been too long. Too much time has taken its toll.
Anywho, as I said, Adam and Rob will always be my compadres. And I've met some new friends that are just wicked cool. The exploration of new souls that you call friends is quite exciting, indeed.
