I went to the cinema on my own last night, I've never thought it was all that big of a deal. I can understand the stigma of going to the pub on your own, but you're just sat in the dark watching a movie in silence - im not sure where the need for company comes into it.
That said, Right At Your Door is a pretty good movie provided you like slow, low-budget stuff where not a lot happens e.g. Hard Candy

1 - make sure you have plenty of ace DVD's to watch, about 6 hours worth at least, preferable futurama, family guy simpsons, black books, spaced, anything with eddie izzard, sonny chiba triple bill...that kind of thing.
2 - don't go to work, make up some exotic disease or say you have the plague or something.
3 - sit on the sofa all day in your pants watching said dvd's
4 - eat lots of food that is bad for you but tastes like heaven itself (pizza is a good example)
Repeat as needed!
