It's that time of the year when people look back and talk about the best and the top 10 and all of that stuff about pop culture from the past year.... and I dig that, only this year I can't think of 10 movies, 10 book and 10 albums that resonated with me. Sure there was plenty of good stuff, Supersize me, End of the Century: The story of the Ramones, the new album by Willie Nelson and the new one from Southern Culture on the Skids, Shadow Divers and Ex Machina that all held my attention and that I will revisit from time to time, but none of them were so spell binding that they call to me in my sleep..........
But if I had to point to one album that I really think more people should have picked up this year it's Mark Lanegan's Bubblegum, it's everything and blusey post-alt rock album should be. It's got drive, it's reflective and it reminds the listener why the Screaming Trees were such a great band (and what ever happened to their best of record that was slated for release?) anyway, check it out....
as for other entertainment, TV was the real winner with me this year...
We had more great tv on dvd releases... The Office special, Arrested Development and The Wire. I am chomping at the bit for: season 6 of Homicide, season 3 of the Shield and mostly Season 2 of the Wire.
anyway.... if you've been following this journal at all... I hope you have a happy holidays.

OK, the favorites for me were New Math, The Tallboys, Mourning Noise, and the Coffin Shakers. At least as far as the stuff I hadn't heard. I enjoyed the tracks from Riot Squad and The Spooky a lot, but I already love those guys. Everything was great, thanks so much!
