Well this is interesting. Tuesday night when I was working at the bar, I met this guy. He was really nice, looks just like Jake Busey, we spent most of the evening talking, and he asked me if I wanted to go out sometime. I told him that would be a definite possibility, but I'd have to see him around a few more times before I gave him my number or anything. The next night I was working, he came back with a bunch of his friends- who all seemed equally pretty cool, and we spent the second night in a row talking and bullshitting, this time I felt comfortable enough and I gave him my number and agreed that we could try to get together sometime for a movie or something.
He called me last night after I'd gotten home from work to see what I was doing for the night because he wanted to take me to see Dave Attell at the Improv, but I had already agreed to babysit my friend Ronnie's kids, so I was going to be over there all night- major bummer. So we started talking about doing something later this weekend, and then we started bullshitting about our jobs, and other random getting-to-know-you type stuff. Then he asks me if I live near the bar, and I told him actually, I live just around the corner at 44th & McDowell. Then he asks me where at 44th & McDowell. Then I give him a little more specific location of the townhouses I live in, and he says, "You live in [insert name of my townhouse complex here]?" And I told him yeah, how do you know the name of the complex? And he says, "because that's where I live."
Dude lives across the yard from me.
So I met him out front and we took my dogs for a walk and talked a little. Then I went over and he showed me his place- which we own all the same movies and CDs and shit, it's just too weird that I've never met him before. Apparently, he's never really home too much because of work. He owns his own gym as a martial arts teacher/instructor, and then also does a little movie stunt work out of town on the side. He's a pretty rad guy, and I'm totally stoked on the fact that we're neighbors. I'm a sucker for convenience.
So this weekend there will be no time for pining. Tonight I'm hanging with Kristin and Mojo babysitting Ronnie's kids again, then tomorrow night, in the immortal words of Warren Fitzgerald, "I have a date!"
