You know that little voice most people have in the back of their head that when you're about to say something pretty inappropriate or embarrassing, it chimes in to tell you so? Well, my brother, God love him, doesn't have that voice.
Last night, my brother, my mom and I were in the kitchen making sandwiches, and he turns to me and says, "So I see you're getting humped regularly again."
My mom bursts out laughing.
"Ew, you're sick. I am not" I denied.
Then Moms threw out a perfectly toned, "Oh, What-EVER."
Heh.
Good talk, Russ.
Tonight it's beers with the girls at Rosie's, and stolen smooches between sets from the Boy. I can't hardly wait.
++++++++++
Heh, here's something funny. I was just flipping back through old journal entries and came across this on November 6th 2003:
Spontaneity can bring much needed things. Tonight it brought Elvis Costello, pints of Guiness, old friends, old feelings, and knowing when to say goodnight before the awkward silence comes. You know the one, it's ususally followed by something you probably shouldn't have done. But not for me. Not tonight. Tonight I crawl in bed with the puppy, stretch out as far as I can, and try to convince myself everything will be okay no matter what.
Thinking back now months later, I should have greeted that akward silence and done what I was feeling that very moment. Seeing as how that's the very Boy I'm seeing now, it probably could have saved me lots of trouble.
Eh, oh well. At least it's this way now.
