What's up with all the name changes?
Weekend was interesting. Not quite what I expected to say the least. Friday night I had planned to go to a movie with a friend, and she bailed on me at the last minute. Instead I went to dinner with the fam, then had them drop me off at one of the Scottsdale hipster bars to see my friends' band play. It was educational. I always thought the typical Scottsdale stereo-type of botox and silicone snobs was a bit of an overexaggeration, but I realize I have underestimated it completely. I spent Friday night surrounded by rich 40-somethings desperately trying to convince themselves they were 25. All I could do was get shitfaced and giggle to myself while they shook their saggy asses. Maybe I'm being mean, but it just didn't seem right. Later on raised a little drama. My freind in the band apparently has a thing for me. This makes me uneasy. He and I dated many years ago, and it was a very difficult break up for me, but I've moved completely on from having any feelings for him like that at all, and we've had a pretty close and solid friendship ever since we broke up. Now I don't know how to act around him, and it's really uncomfortable. I'm pretty bummed out about it. Maybe I'm just being lame, but especially with where my head is at right now, if I were to get involved with anyone at all, it's not going to be someone I've already spent long periods of time and anguish having to get over once already. Not going back to that ever again.
Saturday I spent the whole day doing some much needed shopping. It was theraputic. I bought that shiney little pink purse I'd been eying for the last couple of weeks, then got a pedicure to match it. Then Saturday night another friend I had plans with bailed out on me, so I headed up to the Rogue alone. The early part of the evening was spent at the end of the bar doing shots with Zabeda the bartender and her husband Thaddius (yes, those are their real names). Zebeda offered a pretty golden piece of knowledge, I had neglected to recognize that made me feel so much better about what's been making me sad lately:
"Break ups are hard and painful, but they give you the opportunity you never would have expected to find out who you really are just when you thought you'd lost her. It also frees you up for the right guy when he DOES comes along."
I love her
Later my buddy Pearcy and his wife were trying desperately to hook me up with his friend Matt Milligan, a pro skateboarder out of San Francisco. He was nice, but as the night progressed and he became more and more drunk and equally as obnoxious, I began to change my mind about the situation. Thankfully Mothra showed up, and I was able to spend the rest of the evening talking to him instead. He's the coolest. The afterbar beers and High Fidelity was exactly what I needed.
Tonight it's girls night out. I made a new friend. Hopefully SHE won't ditch out on me
