Whatever holiday you're celebrating, hope you're enjoying it.

I'm starting to wonder whether my parents and I really celebrate Christmas or whether we should just call it Winter Holiday or something. I mean, we don't really do any Christmas-y stuff. We've even stopped cooking most of the traditional Polish Christmas food - we still do a few dishes, but the main meal on Christmas Eve...

Today I did something I haven't done in a very long time: I walked home from school reading a book. I used to do it all the time in elementary school - the walk home was about a mile, and most of it was a straight shot down a big street lined with farms and fields, ie, no sidewalks to worry about. Today's walk was...

Yeah, she isn't into leaving the house, really. She's too shy.

I have a hard time reading and walking because it kinda makes me motion sick. I used to read on the bus, but I could only do it for about 15 minutes before I got sick, so I'd just open the book and pretend to stare at the pages so people wouldn't bother me.

Also, Cryptonomicon is really great. It's a little hard to keep it open, but worth it.
thursday:
oi. books.

i used to be able to read anything. now i can't finish it if it doesn't grab me in the first 100 pages (ie: the satanic handbook). right now i'm reading "Tomorrow we will be killed with our families" (or something close to that), it's about the war between the Hutu and the Tutsis in Rwanda.

Scotch tastings in the afternoon are wicked awesome. Except you kinda feel like an imposter when your scrub self is starting to get a bit cheerful after sampling 10 very pricey scotches and meanwhile this (incredibly attractive) woman is discussing the subtleties of each one and you're all, yeah dude, complex, yup, sure, pour me another, mmm, yeah.

THE COOL AND TOUGH MAN KNOWS NOT EMO!!!!1

And boy does a scotch tasting sound like fun right about now...

It feels good to be done, and even better to actually be proud of both the papers I wrote this quarter.

My knees, however, are fucking killing me. Damn orthopedist, twisting 'em every which way.

-Does this hurt?
-Yes.
-How about this?
-Yes.
-This?
-Uh-huh.
-What about now?
-Seriously, is there anyone whom that wouldn't hurt? Ow!

Damn knees for being all broke-down and crappy....

By far the best scene in Art School Sluts is when the punk rock guy who didn't get to have sex with the girl (because his tests didn't come back, as another young stud informs us) is allowed to masturbate himself to orgasm while said girl is splayed nude in front of him, touching herself. He cums into his own hand... and then immediately applies...

Art School Sluts, eh? How in the world could I have possibly missed it? Though I must admit the description clears the question up just a bit.

Paper writing still? Last I was around you'd finished your thesis, if I recall correctly. What in the world are you up to now?
maximillian:
Negative. No fun until Friday. 11:00AM.

Yeah, I saw it... I was a little let down that there weren't any shots of her standing from the side, but then I felt like I was being snobby about the whole thing and should be thankful I got anything at all.

YOU CAN DO EEET.

Ligaya and I just spent 22 hours at my kitchen table working on final papers. She took a 4 hour nap, I took a 3 hour nap. Plus, there was some email checking, chat break taking, etc, but still, it comes about to a good 17 hours of solid work. The best part is, I think the rough draft of the paper I wrote in...

Wrap my head around money...not so much.

However I do wish I had enough money to wrap around my headpreferably in large denominations.

There was a land of Cavaliers and Cotton Fields called the Old South... Here in this pretty world Gallantry took its last bow.. Here was the last ever to be seen of Knights and their Ladies Fair, of Master and of Slave... Look for it only in books, for it is no more than a dream remembered. A Civilization gone with the wind...

Seeing it...

Damn, people of my general age group spend way too much time thinking about how to live life, and what they want to do, and who they really are, and most of all, complaining. The crippling inertia of the average 20something year old is fucking ridiculous. From now on, I'm leading the unexamined life, goddamnit. Get off your ass and do something. Not in that...

i think that ustabe, people weren't born into an unfulfilling tradition of meaningless consumerism and soul-killing pencil pushing.

youstabe, there was necessity and leisure, and now there is less of either, and still somehow we're killing the world.
menotyou:
That sounds all fine and dandy, but according to "scientists", lazy people are born slackasses.

Science says I am genetically predisposed to be a bum, so what else can I do but bitch about my station in life? Come on....join me! Everyone else is doing it man...

Well, Thanksgiving was pretty good. My parents and I hung out, I made some kickass scrambled eggs for breakfast, we went and saw Walk the Line, and then snuck into Jarhead for free, heh heh, then proceeded to Chinatown for a pretty kickass dinner, then went and kicked it with my friends and played a surprisingly amusing game called Celebrity. I like that my...
