I am not pro-war and I do not think the war is entirely over oil. Our shallow image conscious gas guzzling SUV's don't suck down that much petrol. This war is not even over those "horrible" and "terrifying" weapons of mass destruction. The good ol USofA has the exact same weapons, including the chemical and biological.
It is easy to forget Mr Saddam was educated here in the US and was Reagan's right hand man and buddy against Iran in the 80's. When it comes to chemical and biological weapons we gave him every thing he needed. ( Yes he used it on his own people and not just the Iranians, but we did not care then. )In late 1986 I remember standing in the observation tower with the Boy Scouts at the Barry M Goldwater Air Force targeting and training range watching the Air Force train Iraqi pilots to fly f18's. Then Saddam bought some tanks from the soviets and a few pathetic SCUD's, decided he wanted Kuwait and suddenly he is the reincarnation of Hitler.
The war is not even about liberating the poor Iraqi people. Iraq is not the only despotic nation the region
Here is a quick list of Iraq's neighbors and the type of government they are.
Syria - military regime since March 1963 ( Despotic )
Iran - theocracy ( Despotic )
Jordan - constitutional monarchy ( past history of human rights violations but they are getting better )
Turkey - parliamentary democracy ( Democracy, go Turkey! However Turkey still has the most inhumane and unfair justice system in the world. )
Kuwait - nominal constitutional monarchy ( recent history of human rights violations. )
Saudi Arabia. - monarchy ( Despotic )
Let's examine our friends Saudi Arabia as an example of how Iraq is not the only cruel inhumane den of vile despotism in the middle east. I really want to highlight how much of a hypocrisy is created by using " the liberation of the Iraqi people " as an excuse for this insanity is. Saudi Arabia is a monarchy. Last time I checked people living in a monarchy were not free and liberated. To quote Amnesty International's campaign to end human rights violations in Saudi Arabia.
"Anyone living in Saudi Arabia who criticizes this system is harshly punished. After arrest, political and religious opponents of the government are detained indefinitely without trial or are imprisoned after grossly unfair trials. Torture is endemic. Executions, flogging and amputations are imposed and carried out with disregard for the most basic international fair trial standards.
The climate of fear and secrecy makes a difficult task of monitoring human rights in Saudi Arabia. Amnesty International has persistently asked the government for information and clarification of reports of human rights abuses, individual cases, statistics and legislative provisions, and invited the government to engage in a constructive dialogue and comment on the reports of human rights situation in Saudi Arabia. It has yet to receive a satisfactory response, and in most cases receives no response at all.

Wow! I have heard the same thing said about Iraq. Why are we not also liberating the poor Saudi people? Oh yes Saudi Arabia is " our friend" although
15 of the 19 hijackers from September 11 were citizens of Saudi Arabia.
Nope the war is not about: Oil.
Nope the war is not about: Weapons of mass destruction.
Nope the war is not about: Bringing Freedom and Democracy to the Iraqi people.
The war is really about Amerikan Imperialism and those who would defy it.
