I was writing on anIsrael/Palastine thread in current affairs. A few of us reacted against the right wing views of certain members. I said how I can't quite believe that the 4th most powerful army on the planet (a nuclear power no less) is fighting against people who have nothing and who resort to atrocious acts of terrorism isn response to the widespread slaughter the Israeli army commit. This is widespread knowledge but a certain member of staff seemed to object to this stance. (Hey, you can read all of this by clicking on the link)
It sort of got nasty when this member of staff seemed to insinuate people against Israeli policy were anti-semitic! Sort of like saying that because I'm anti-capital punishment, I'm anti-American.
I have just come back from a night out to find this member of staff had left the following post and then closed the thread....
Oh come on, just admit it, you cheer every time another jewish baby is shot in it's crib and the palestinians name a street after the gunman. Everytime a bunch of Jews are killed dancing at a night club or eating at a pizza parlor and the palestinians hand out candies and have a parade, you're right there with them in spirit.
Now! Obviously he is joking! He couldn't possibly mean those accusations because they are disgusting. I wouldn't have really been phased by them except that the thread was closed immediately after his comment. Even jokingly, I have been branded an anti-semite. I hope that is just all some misunderstanding but it worries me nonetheless hence I am writing about it in my journal.
What makes all of this particularly strange and almost funny in a macabre sort of way is that I am Jewish. I had no intention of releasing informtion about something that is personal and irrelevent for discussion. I just thought that it seemed relevant after being accused of being an anti-semite. I have a strange sick feeling. If those comments were sincere then I can honestly say, I have never been so insulted in my whole life. I just hope they were not.
