Up next: An excellent analysis of the work of Hayao Miyazaki, the master of anime, by Criswell, whose YouTube channel I highly recommend. I especially like how he emphasizes the importance of quiet segments in Miyazaki's work, the reflective moments offered by silence and stillness that allows the viewer to make a connection with the characters that are often lacking in the action-packed animated...

Thanks for the recommendation!  I've never properly listened to 69 Eyes, which is all the more amazing because I'm part Finnish. I guess that, because of the Goth shtick,  I always thought they would be overly influenced by HIM -- a band I dislike -- although they've clearly got much more of a rockabilly vibe. You're right about them being in the same vein as Ghost, at least as far as the vintage aspect is concerned.

Sweet. I'm glad you're giving them a shot. Honestly, I like HIM for the most part...their partly who that Pandora station was based off of. Songs kept popping up and I was always, "Who is that?" And it would inevitably be 69 Eyes. But I can probably imagine why you don't like HIM and honestly that's why I like the Eyes so much. HIM is always so slow and ballad like, and I feel like I really have to be in the mood for them. I'm always in the mood for they Eyes and they music flows quicker and I just really enjoy their sound. You'll have to let me know if you get around to the 69 Cats.
