So today I'm not doing any photography. This weekend I want to get down to the camp and get some spring shots around, if time permits.

Today I an making costumes! Yay!

I'll put up some pictures this weekend after I get to take pictures of TeslaGirl parading around in them! smile

So recently I got a chance to shoot a set for a hopeful. In fact, for my girlfriend who has been talking about posing for SG since before I met her. I wanted to wait until her set was up before I posted anything, but check her out TeslaGirl's set "Playing Games."

I know I've got to do more work with lighting now that...

I shoot everything and controling lighting is the same, you need lights first off and not a lamp that doesnt' hit the subject, thats' where all the shadows are from, and the yellow color in the pictures, looks like a point and shoot camera, that was put on the wrong setting.

A model in a pose is still life. If that's what you shot than you should know how to control the light on a model as well, the only major issue with people is the angles to make them look better that you need to improve on.

Hope this helps. smile
hyge:
That does help.

Usually when I'm shooting dishes that we make I use a small light box, since we never use a plate larger that 12" in diameter and I can use a single spotlight to light it all up. I was using floodlamp work lights in the room and just a little off the lamp in the pictures which was meant to mostly be there as part of the scene. The floodlights were either behind me or off to my side for most shots and I didn't want to aim them at her, so I shot one up to the ceiling and another against the side wall for reflective light. Should I have just been aiming them at her instead? They're 500W each and I've got two, it just seemed like she was washing out in light in the test shots. Maybe there's another way to work with that to reduce shadows?

When I have had to shoot around a scene, like for buffet presentations that we want to capture, I just have dealt with the light around the room and tried to compensate on each shot with aprature, shutter times and white balancing when changing rooms. Food just doesn't move much.

My new camera came in the other day. I'm excited.
Canon Digital Rebel XT. Got an adapter so I can use my lenses from my old 35mm on it (though without the auto-focus) and and extra quick release plate for my tripod so I can switch them out on the fly. It's gonna be awesome!

Now to try and get off the photographers hopeful list...

Happy new year!

And it's an exciting time. I'll be getting my new camera soon, and with any luck start shooting again.
My old digital is dying, slowly. I end up having to turn it off and back on again to get it to focus a lot because the motor is slipping on the zoom lens. My new one will be a nice DSLR, which...

I'm finally working on my own project. I've been making corsets, costumes, shirts, pants, and applying patches for everyone I know the last few months, and this time I get to do something for me. My goal was to have it done by Christmas, failing in that by the end of the year. With less than 24 hours to go, it's going to take a...

Finally, vacation.
It's not really much of a vacation, I still have shit loads of work to do, but at least my schedule clears up from classes for a few weeks to make it possible to do the silly things like sleep and play video games. I might even get things done for myself for a change.

Thankfully all the Christmas shopping is done. Everyone's...

So as if my life wasn't hectic enough, I've taken on being the sous chef for the vegetarian banquet in January at school. We're actually going to do a fully vegan menu, instead of just the lacto-ovo vegetarian menu we are required to prepare. It's going to be a blast. I have about 100 pages of paperwork ahead of me, including recipes, nutritional analysis, costing,...

Who would have guesses that 20.5 credit hours was so much work?
Not only do I have class on a Friday night (which I hate), I have to go in an hour early just to print off the lecture notes because there are so many!

Ugh.

I had to fix my truck... again. mad
Nothing major, but it's just one more thing that makes me go "well it'll survive a few more months."
I really should replace it. The cost of repairs hasn't quite hit the cost of new car payments, but It'd probably be easier. Especially if I have any problems over the winter, it'll be too cold to work on...
