i'm supposed to help my printmaker friend April set up her MFA show today... but she hasn't called me yet. i hate waiting about. not knowing when shit's going to start. kind of monopolizes your day.

so instead of cleaning, i'm watching "the Fall of: Sparta" on the history channel. which is like a dumbed-down version of every history class i took in college. but i'm a classics geek, and can't get enough of that shit. oooh, now "the True Story of: Gladiators" is coming on. heh. did i mention the geekiness?

Rhys has spent this weekend playing internet poker. i spent this weekend working my ass off. he made over $1200. (that's real money.) i made a little under $400. which makes me wish for the millionth time that i had some kind of money-making skill that required little effort on my part, and involved doing something that i'd gladly do for free. although i don't think poker's fun if you're not playing for money. or so i've been told.

me, hell- my luck's so rotten that i stay away from gambling. i'll bet on football games, but that's different. it's never more than twenty bucks a game, and i don't have a bookie, so it's not real gambling. and i'll shake the bones every now and again, but only dollar hands with the neighborhood guys, and i never win or lose more than a few bucks.

but i've known my whole life that if i was going to get anything, it was going to be the hard way. i don't think i know any other way to do things. yup, that's me. Hyena "the Hard Way" Hell. so don't hold it against me that i get bitter about easy money. i just wish i could get it like that.
