Against Me! =
!
such a great fucking show.
the ticket (and all the info on the internet about the show) said the doors opened at 7. however, once i got there i found out they weren't opening the doors until 8. so me and about 30 other people waited outside for an hour in the cold (a lot of the girls out there had skirts and bare legs, i felt sorry for them!).
another weird note- standing outside the club, i honestly felt like i was from another generation than these folks. i was the only one not wearing the "vans-dickies-hoodie with a couple of patches saftey-pinned on" uniform. it was odd. i think i've finally become one of those much-hated older punks who talks shit about what the "kids" are listening to/wearing/etc. these days. and i'm 23. uhg. i hear it only gets worse from here on out.
but the show was fucking great. everyone was singing along and dancing (except the girl next to me, which is another story that i will save for a later rant entitled "Bitch- Why do you stand in the front of the stage if you aren't that into the band, and don't want to get bumped around?") i have terrible bruises on my knees and thighs from the low stage... getting slammed up against it from behind. i took pictures. they're really gross and huge! i know i'm supposed to post the black eye pics too, so i'm going to make a folder for my injury pictures. it seems fitting. i get injured a lot.
i probably should have stayed to see Nashville Pussy for free- they were playing in the bigger room at the same club, and since they hadn't started when our show got out, they just let us in from the smaller room. but my friend had a midterm today, and i didn't want to depend on anyone else to get a ride back uptown, so we left early.
i should go to more shows. i used to go to punk shows every weekend (when i didn't work weekends). i always forget how much fun it is. it's one of those "never want it to be over" type moments. leaves you feeling spent but exeuberant (sp?). like sex. i need more of both in my life, i believe...
well, that's it for now. work tonight at one a.m. if anyone wants to stop by and say hello.
much love, all.

Looking at those injury pictures made me go, "Awwwww, Becky!" Then I saw panties and I was like, "Ohhhhh BECKY!"
I'm on Spring Break now. Which means I'm gonna come see you more often this week. We should hang out. Get drunk. Fight. Ya know....the usual.
