sorry for the cryptic entry yesterday...
now i suppose i owe an explanation. ak. very well: i went out with my old man the other night (the one of questionable fucked-up-ed-ness) and we ended up getting pretty drunk. him more so than i, because he doesn't drink anymore. in any case, he decided he was going to propose to me. not the get down on your knees with a ring kinda proposal, but more of a "hey, let's get married" thing. it's something we've talked about before, but there was always an understanding (or at least i thought there was) that it was not going to be anytime in the forseeable future. i'm talking years from now. maybe decades. so he asks me to marry him, and i said all right, it seemed like the decent thing to say. so he decides to announce to the entire bar, to the band, to the waitresses, to everyone- that i just accepted his marriage proposal and that we were getting married on halloween and that everyone was invited... so on and so forth. he was even drunkenly calling his friends and telling them the news. needless to say i was extremely embarrassed- hell, i don't really want to get married. not even if it was on halloween. but being drunk, my capacity for explaning this was diminished, and it went on and on. thankfully when he woke up yesterday he realized that there wasn't going to be any kind of wedding... he kind of came up and asked very bashfully, "so- um- we're not really getting married, right?". he seemed pretty relieved when i was like, "hell no!" but i guess he had to call all his friends and explain to them what was really going on... anyway. and it's not even that i'm against getting married. nor am i against marrying him. jut not in three months, for crying out loud. it's incredibly stupid, the whole thing- maybe a stupid thing to even worry about. but i didn't really want to have to take it back, if he was indeed serious, and tell him he was wrong and i wasn't going to marry him... ak. like i said, stupid.
so that's the story. just a crazy drunken mix-up...
i'm going to go drink some coffee now. lots of coffee.

sorry to nitpick, but doest "my old man" usually refer to one's father??
