So today my family went out to the Clackamas River to our hidden off shoot swimming hole. My girlfriend came along as well. We rafted up and down the river and right as we were about to leave, a juvenile Great Blue Heron landed about 30 feet from us. we all froze and watched as it walked up the bank stopping to harpoon the countless baby fish in the swimming hole. It just kept walking up towards us until it was within arms reach of Beth. Then it just took off and flew ten feet beyond us. It was one of those times you wished you had a camera. Gorgeous bird. Incredible silloutte and wingspan.

Then we spent hte rest of the night at our artist farmer firends house. Where we ate home made new mexico style enchiladas. Aka my favorite meal. Explored their 5 acres of forest and herded the chickens back to the coup at the end of the night.
This is one of hte best days I have had all summer.

Now I am going to settle down to The Elegant Universe, which I got from Powells yesterday.
