So, I'm basically attaching myself to one of the engineers at my firm. He's a really super-cool guy. He's definitely an engineer though, and he spends just a little bit too much thought on the engineering process and stuff, so he's got that dorky edge to himself. He's a great teacher, though. He really tries to cover all the bases when he's showing me stuff.

We went out on Monday to a job site to do a survey check. He showed me what everything was (in real life, and then on paper). He showed me what is going to be a problem, and what'll have to be fixed, and who does what in the process. He explained curb ramps and made them seem exciting--there was this huge tension between logic and the Portland Department of Transportation brewing there.

Today we went out hiking on Marquam Hill below OHSU. He's just a good teacher. He also plays scrabble.

So, because of him, I've had a couple really good days recently.

Monday night was awesome. We celebrated a friend's 21st. It was pretty interesting, because everyone knew everyone else, but just in different ways. It worked though. Four destinations for the night, and I think they spanned the whole range of clubs/bars. We started off at a swanky little bistro, and then went to McMenamiminmimmsns. The went to a strip club and finally ended up at the Doug Fir.

I got home super late. I ended up not getting to the max station where my car was. So I had to call my mom, and she picked me up. It was quite pathetic. I was tired, but I got over it.

Engineers are good people. Dorks, but good people. My sister was one before she decided she wanted to take a 50% pay cut and go teach math to snotty junior high kids.
