So,
I totally shirked my responsibilities and didn't stay in the garage tonight and make... things. I went out with Venice tonight instead, consoled some mutual friends, and drank copious quanities of $2 whiskey with soda and sours mix.
It just makes me want to live in Portland all the more. I can't walk (or bicycle) home from these places now. I need to be able to do that. I also need to keep a change of clothes in my car, so I don't necessarily have to go home every night.
However, it's really nice to be able to save up money here. I'm consciously putting money away every paycheck to save up for... I dunno. Either a car or a down payment on a house, I'm not sure which one it is right now. If I break down too early, it'll be for a car. If I'm diligent and lucky, it'll be a house in a short while, hopefully.
Contrary to my goal of saving money, I bought this today:
It's a book that has a bunch of patterns in it about how to design a region, city, neighborhood, community, a house, or a room. It's quite excellent. It's a very good density of chapters (253 in only 970 odd pages!).
It's quite awesome though, and I want to keep reading it so I can apply some of the smaller patterns to my work and some of the larger ones to my own thoughts and ideologies.

I am a very irresponsible girl. Why did you let me drink that much?
