THANK GOD IT'S FRIDAY!!!
This week slipped by pretty quickly too...but I look forward to a weekend of long relaxing hours at work in the air conditioning instead of out in the hot garage!

As my love Doineanta requested, now that my phone takes better pics...a journal full of them!
***
I think the heat is really starting to fry our brains...
At lunch today a classmate decided to try and squeeze a soda bottle label over his hand...It really was one of the funniest things I've every seen...
Not only did it work, but he put another one on the other wrist!
***
After lunch it was back to work...we finished taping up the car and started to shoot our color...light sand drift...
I have to admit that I was not a LITTLE frustrated that even though we had a team meeting before we were even a team to discuss what each of us would do...I've still ended up being nominated to do the TWO things I'm not that great at. Shooting primer sealer and clear coat. I ended up only shooting the hood with color...which blows...because that's what I'm best at (besides taping).
And again frustrated with my partner who seems to rush through things, which creates more work later. Any time you touch the paint with sandpaper or a scuff pad...you have to repaint it. And rather than taking the less aggressive route to get some overspray off the car...he used sandpaper...which ruined the paint next to it and now we had to repaint the underside of the hood as well as the inside of the fenders. And the TAPING job he did on it was the most ridiculous thing I've ever seen!
And any good painter knows that the key to a good paint job is a good tape job...
But frankly, I didn't feel like following him around and retaping everything he'd already done. I try to be sensitive to his ego...

Finally though, we finished with the color and started shooting the clear coat...which is REALLY testy...any little thing falls into the paint and you have to start over. Too much paint and it will run...too little and it comes out bumpy and dry.
So I wasn't surprised to find a group of my classmates looking on as Brad shot the clear coat.
And here's a pic of Brad in his paint suit...(looking like he's a ghost buster). Had to take the picture through the plastic curtains...since I didn't want to contaminate the paint zone...or breathe in any of those isocynates...that shit will kill you!!! (even though it kinda makes you feel good in the meantime...woo hoo!!!)
And what our car looked like after he finished...
And when I say that it gets hot in those paint booths...I'm not fucking around...In this pic it's only 115...on it's way up to 140...

Speaking of heat...I took my car to Autozone and tested the fan out in the parking lot...hoping it wouldn't run...which would mean I just needed a new fan...but no such luck...it ran...which means that I now have to use my brain to diagnose the problem.
And AS ALWAYS...some dude (autozone customer service employee) comes up to talk to me...I tell him what the problem is with my car and what I think the problem might be...and he says..."Oh, are you a mechanic?"
*sigh*
No, dumbass...this must be my boyfriend's car...my boyfriend's tools all spread out on the curb...my boyfriend's tech school shirt...my boyfriend's sweat...my boyfriend's dirt...
Problem is...I don't have a boyfriend...so that must mean that I'm a fucking mechanice...stuipd mother fucker!!!
I did my best to find and test all the sensors...but in this deadly heat...gave up...for now...
