In less than an hour I'm going to get a call from Mercedes-Benz...it's the first of three interviews to get into their advanced training program.

Originally I wasn't sure if I wanted to be part of this program. I'm not a big fan of the cars or the people who drive them.

Not even the proposition of a starting salary of 50k a year, with commision and benefits, back in Manhattan could sway me...

Eventually I started to consider that maybe the thing about it that gave me that sick feeling was the thought of moving back to Manhattan...and I began to reconsider the benefits of the training and the opportunity to work for such an elite crew.

In the end I figured it this way...I'm only contracted to work for a certified mercedes shop for a year after training...and it's really the best way to enter into the field of autobody...a field not always real excited to see a woman coming their way. Especially a woman with no previous experience. The money will be good and I'm not obligated to be in manhattan...I can do my year in Austin. A city I've recently visited and liked very much. A city with some very cool people in it I'd definitely like to get the chance to get to know

And my mother might have been a psychotic bitch...but she did teach me a couple useful things...one is that it's always better to turn THEM down, than to not give it a shot.
