Um...VACATION: DAYS seven and eight?
I'm no longer sure...the days have all blended together.
I know that I did get around to surrendering my New York state license and stopping by the bar to try and get my January schedule. I even put all my worldly goods into the car...but never made it to the pawn shop.
When I arrived at the bar to find that the lady boss still has not made up the schedule for January, I was disappointed and stressed out...and decided to have a beer.
Three or four shots later I finally ventured back to the car to make it home and figure out how I was supposed to be making it to Austin.
Earlier Eva had said that since her boyfriend was flying into Houston and had a layover, she'd try to drive down here and pick us both up.
The next phone message said something about plane tickets for me instead and that I should call her so we can figure out days and times or whatever.
Long story short...I didn't make it to Austin, and yeah, Eva is REALLY angry with me. But I just couldn't get myself to get to the airport that night, or the next morning. Not for a one hour flight to Austin, for like, a day. I'm sorry Eva, I just couldn't do it.
Instead...me and The Man headed to the bar for some drinks. Since I'd been drinking all day, I was maintaining a pretty nice buzz when I showed up.
At midnight, The Man announced that it was now my birthday and that for $5 you could spank me. The bar wasn't all that crowded, so I only made about $25...but I got myself a couple nice welts from the leather belt someone broke out on my bare ass.
When the bar closed, we headed to his friends house and continued drinking. I was entirely smashed...and all was going well. They even cooked me a veggie omelet and stuck a candle in a cookie for me!
And then the phone rang...
It was The Greaser.
He'd called a few days ago...asking when I was graduating because the hot rod shop he works at needs body men and painters. He wasn't sure if I learned paint but thought that it was at least worth my coming out some time to 'try out.'
I don't know what I was thinking...or what possessed me to pick up the phone...but I did.
I remember the conversation was nice for a while, telling him about school and stuff...and then...
The tears...oh yes...the tears they were a rollin'.
I told him that I was seeing someone new...
And commenced the drunken sobs and snotting all over myself.
What did he say? I have a vague recollection...
He said, in that soothing voice he has that it was ok. And he asked if he was good to me and treated me well. I said yes.
I remember going into the kitchen where the three others were hanging out and informing them that I needed a shot of whiskey and I needed it NOW, and retreating again into the living room.
Someone came and delivered the bottle of whiskey I'd been drinking to me and I continued talking to The Greaser.
I know I told him that I'd loved him...and that's about it. It all goes black right around then.

Woke up the next morning still raging drunk and being dragged out of bed by The Man who had to go to work.
I have a cut on my knee I remember getting at the bar...scraped knuckles and a fucking black eye. I have no idea how I scraped my knucled OR got the black eye. I'm guessing it has something to do with the wrought iron canopy things on the bed...but your guess is as good as mine.
Spent the rest of my day nursing this intense hang over...and I admit, I haven't been that hung over in a while...
The Greaser called at some point to make sure I was ok. And to tell me that I shouldn't feel bad about calling him sometime.
Later...the man came back and took me out to The Continental Club downtown to see one of his friends' favorite bands. I stuck to beer (because honestly, the thought of whiskey made me want to vomit) and we danced and danced. We even had a little crowd watching us.
Headed home to some birthday waffles from Waffle House and some of the good naked stuff.
All in all it was a good birthday. I suppose I could have been angry that I spent my 30th birthday without my new york friends and not in the city...but here's something else to consider.
Maybe it's only appropriate that I would turn 30 in Texas...since after all, it's where I was born.
