Nothing I like more than trekking my lazy ass all the way out to Queens to sit in a deposition all morning, only to arrive and find that it was cancelled. *sigh*
Well, at least it meant I got to come back here to the office and kill brain cells surfing SG all day
Here's some more good news...
Sunday, my friend E left a message for me saying she was out having drinks with one of her friends that I'd meet when I move to Houston.
E was born and raised in Austin, TX. When I was telling her all about my fears driving out there by myself, and being stuck unloading the truck all by myself, she immediately volunteered to help. She has many friends and family who live in Houston. She said she'd help me drive out there and have her friends meet us at my new apt!! That way she gets to have a little reunion AND I not only get help unloading my truck, but also get to meet some locals so I won't feel so alone.
I didn't return the call...since, like I mentioned, I was avoiding calls all day. But when she called again yesterday, leaving me a message saying that I was now completely set in Houston...I thought it might be time to find out what was going on.
She said that once she was done pimping my ass out to her friend and his wife, that not only did they absolutely agree to meet us at the apt and all that, but also that they had a new boyfriend, apt, and job, already lined up for me!
Well, I'm not real interested in the new boyfriend thing...since I'm already hooked on someone...and I don't really need an apt, since I just found one myself...but the JOB might very well be KEY!
She explained that the man they think should be my new boyfriend is "Welder Dave." (yeeeeeee, i LOVE welding!) HIS job is painting flames on guitars. When I asked what my new job was, she said that I'd be working with Welder Dave at his guitar shop, painting flames on guitars! Yeeeeeeehaaaaaww!!!
I mean, I don't know that they'd actually let me work there or do that...but it's nice to imagine that I'll have money coming in soon after arriving. Because seriously folks, I'm strapped as fuck.
I printed out my floorplan from the internet and spent the rest of the day imagining how I'd arrange what little furniture I have.
The fear is beginning to leave me and the fun is starting to set in. Which is a very serious relief, because...if you all don't remember...shit was dark for a while.
Anyway...my favorite moment of the sgny after-party? When I got some guy to stuff a dollar bill down my dress in exchange for my last cigarette.
I'm not sure that was entirely appropriate, but I thought it was fun!
