I've been having a ridiculously frustrating week at work...
Right now...I'm down the street from my office at some coffee place actually PAYING for my minutes
You guessed it...no internet service.
Sometime yesterday around noon...it just pooped out. It does that from time to time...to time...to time... Actually it happens on a pretty regular basis.
We also still don't have any air conditioning. Did I mention we don't have windows either? Or a ventilation system?
Actually, that's not entirely true...I have a skylight in my office...which basically makes it a fucking green house. The heat makes me especially cranky...on TOP of the no internet...they're lucky I didn't burn the fucker down.

Anyway, apart from the no a/c, windows, ventilation, or internet service... Actually, y'know what...I don't want to spend my minutes here bitching. It doesn't solve anything.

Thursday mornings I run a support group for some of the women who come to my agency. They're all victims of domestic violence who have disabilities.
Today in group we talked a lot about the Nicole Brown-Simpson and Laci Peterson stuff.
Where were you ten years ago when you heard about Nicole? Were you with your abuser? What did you think/feel about it?
And then, what's coming up for you now seeing it ten years later?
As for me...ten years ago I was living in Arizona. My first year of college. I had been good and desensitized to the violence because of all the violence in my home...but hadn't yet met the guy who would become my abuser... So honestly, I was just pissy about the fact they took my regular tv programs off the air to show OJ in his car for hours...
Now...ten years later...having survived the abusive relationship...I have mixed feelings about seeing this all coming up on the news.
I wasn't smart...I was lucky to get out. It's hard for me to see their faces on the news. The women, women just like me, who didn't make it out.
I'm torn about being happy the stories are actually MAKING it onto the news so that the 'general non-abusive relationship public' can get a look, be reminded. On the other hand...I get a new client every fucking day. How many women don't we know about?
How much are people going to think or care about it when the news dies down?
I hadn't realized how much all this had been effecting me until I ran that group today. It's no wonder I've been so touchy lately...and god knows I've been consuming too much chocolate and alcohol and not much else.
Anyway, I appologize for the serious tone of this journal. That happens sometimes...y'know...feelings and crap. I try to fight them off...but there they are.
Now...it's back to the sweat box I call my office to go duke it out with my fucking boss.
Leave love folks, I need some.

my dearie, getting laid just for the sake of getting laid gets old. I needed a new challenge. Because well, most of the time, getting laid ISN'T a challenge. Hence my new endeavor. It's been almost 3 long months....
