Holy crap I had a great time in Palm Springs and LA!! I was able to visit with a bunch of my friends while there, see some good movies, soak in some hot springs, eat great food, meet new people, and also just relax and generally have a good time, despite working at my office in LA for 3 days, but even that was pretty good, cuz I got to see my co-workers who I rarely get to see anymore, since I work at home in the Seattle area.

I was even able to meet up with Twinace (for the second time) and MissDisfigured, who is even more beautiful in person.
I can't speak for them, but I had a great time, and hope to meet up with them again when SurlyMike and I are down there in July or August.

If anyone knows where SurlyMike can get himself one of these nifty bubble chairs at a reasonable price, for the love of God, let him know. smile

For all my vegan/vegetarian/healthy food lovin' friends, you should eat at Native Foods if you ever get the chance. I'm pretty sure this is my favorite veg restaurant! Yum!!

We also paid a visit to the Palm Springs museum of flight, which I really enjoyed....

And we visited the graves of Frank Sinatra and Sonny Bono, yes I have pics, but I thought you might prefer a photo of one of the many roadrunners running around the cemetary instead...

A couple more pics from the Palm Springs area...

As for the film festival, we saw 5 films in total, my favorite being a British horror/comedy film called Severance. If you are okay with gore and comedy mixed, I highly recommend it! Although I don't think it will be released in the US till probably April and then it might be limited.
My second favorite was the new Lynch film "Inland Empire". If you did not like or could not figure out "Mulholland Drive", you will probably want to give this one a pass. It's long and slow paced and doesn't really have an actual storyline, but nevertheless I enjoyed it quite a bit, and I'm looking forward to seeing it again tomorrow night, where David Lynch himself is supposed to be in attendance.
I think that if he ever made an actual horror film, it would be the scariest fucking thing ever! His movies both enthrall me and creep me out to the point where I actually get anxious. Good stuff!! biggrin

We also saw Pan's Labyrinth at the festival which I enjoyed, but I don't really understand all the hype. The director, Guillermo del Toro, was there and being a big fan of his movies Cronos and The Devil's Backbone (which I liked a lot more than Pan's), I was happy to discover that he is very entertaining in person. He was both interesting and funny. When asked who his target audience is when he makes a movie he said "fuck you" is my target audience. smile

I also saw Children of Men with a few friends during the week. It's a very dark film, but I enjoyed it. And a big "YUM!" to Clive Owen!

Okay this is turning into some kind of epic, I hope you all enjoyed your week as much as I did. I'm back to the reality of snow and work now...blech.

If you were snowed in tomorrow, what would you do with your day?

Ha, I wish I could take credit for that poem. But sadly, I must admit to stealing it from an episode of Star Trek: The Next Generation.... blush

I do write poetry sometimes. Just not much recently, ha.
