Went to a party last night with a bunch of my theater friends. The host requested that I bring my crokinole board. I played several games, all against people that had never played before.

I lost every game.

My wife was my partner in the games.

Divorce proceedings will be starting shortly.

We'll definitely be going there. We'll do that and the aquarium. I'm really excited!

Well, so far my vacation has been OK. I haven't gotten a lot on my list accomplished, and I have played damn little Red Dead Redemption or DDO or Minecraft. However, we do have almost all of our Christmas errands/shopping done, and a start on the housecleaning, and I got through some of the backlog on my DVR'd shows. And I got an epic amount...

Sorry to hear about your grandmother. I guess it was her time, but it's still a sad loss.

Oh no! I hope you're feeling better!

I just got back from a screening of an absolutely awesome new Finnish movie called Rare Exports. A dark tale based on the Finnish legends of Santa. While not a slasher movie by any means, it is very dark and suspenseful, but at the same time very, very funny. It opens up in the US in limited release on Christmas Eve, those of you in...

Looks like I'm in the show. From the read through, it certainly didn't strike me as overly funny. Which is too bad, seeing as it is a comedy. Ah well. My part is mercifully short, and I don't feel an obligation to invite all of my friends to come see it. Who knows, maybe it will play better than it read. But when a script...

Does the Elvis impersonator play Elvis, or does he play an Elvis impersonator?

This question reminds me of a discussion I had with someone today, about the penny. The back of the penny has a picture of the Lincoln Memorial, and if you look closely at a penny that's not too worn, you can see the statue of Lincoln. So, Lincoln is on the back of the penny as well as the front, which is pretty cool. But of course, the back of the penny has a picture of a statue of Lincoln, whereas the front of the penny has a picture of the real Lincoln.

Anyway, Lincoln aside, I think that Stuffy Chaucer Historian could be a good role for you. My advice would be to play it sincere, but not too hammy. In the spirit of the late Leslie Nielsen, as it were.

Leaving to do a reading for a new play in about 30 minutes. Just found out about it yesterday afternoon, talked to the director over the phone last night, and she pretty much wants me sight unseen. I guess that the read-through will be the formal audition, but it sounds like if I want the part it's mine.

The play is called "Geoffrey Chaucer's Flying...

Well. I have only four more days to work this year. Seems that I didn't spend nearly as much vacation time as I thought. But that's cool...things are really slow here at work right now. Plus, the house is a pit, so I need to spend some time cleaning, since my wife can't seem to get to it.

Played 7 Wonders at my FLGS yesterday,...

Well, I'd call that a successful RockCon. I didn't have a chance to play any games, because I got a work call, but I did sell off a bunch of old games for over $500. So, I got my banjo paid for!

Plus got to visit a bit with my buddy John Kovolic. I haven't had a chance to talk with him in about a...

Packing up for RockCon for the weekend. Going through a bunch of old games, to put in the silent auction. Some of this is going to be painful, because I'm a borderline hoarder when it comes to my games. But at the same time it's somewhat freeing to know that I'm going to be getting several boxes of stuff out of my basement.

I'm actually...

You'd think there would be a lot of pictures of Professor Bobo on the internet, but this is the only one I could find.

That makes sense. I read it all in a row but now kind of wish I had savored it more.

Stuff in general:

1. I finally made up my mind on what banjo to get. I settled on the Gold Tone CC-100R+. Well, not really settled. I agonized over the decision for weeks. Finally called up a dealer, talked over the fine points, and he subtly twisted my arm to get that one. But I'm very happy with the decision.

2. WizardWorld...I mean the Chicago...

Sorry to say, the square hasn't had a donut shop in my lifetime. frown It's at the Hy-Vee bakery department.

You should, it's a really good game. Just don't put Sten in your regular party, he's really boring.

All packed and set for GenCon! Leaving as soon as my buddy arrives. I'm only going to be able to stay until Friday, but I'm really looking forward to doing some new game shopping!

Of course, I do have to temper my purchases. I need to buy a new banjo. smile

If the cute counter girl at Panera asks if you work at NASA, just say YES!
