As bloody as the

Illiad

And full of

Typos.

The backs of

Envelopes

For overdue

Bills.

I wrote a poem

It took me

To write

140 sonnets

For another man’s

Rebel

Wife.

I wrote a poem

It took me

40 years

To write

One perfect sunset seen

That I could never

Fully

Describe.

I wrote a poem

It took me

40 years

To write

Hanging around in

Biker bars

With better poets

Than

Myself.
