I have been reading Anna Karenina and, in my opinion no one is better at fleshing out characters like Tolstoy.

Was jumping over a sprinkler
Tied to a green hose
In our backyard
And the best part of that
Was a little rainbow
The spray would make
A little rainbow
Seeded there
Among the lilac bushes
And the dog turds
We got to jump
