I think once my red Outback dies...I need to do this.

Yeah yeah...the original Ecto-1 wasn't an Outback...but the original cars are hard to find, and I like the White Outback Ecto-1.
So 25centgiraffe's step mom is giving up on raising rabbits, and needs to get rid of a couple dozen rabbits.
Looks like I will have a long weekend of slaughtering and butchering ahead of me, but a freezer full of rabbits will be NICE. I plan on making jerky with some of it, and perhaps some stew with a few as well.
People look at me funny when I tell him I am ok with killing, butchering and eating a rabbit...
Personally...I think if you eat meat, you should have to kill an animal at some point in your life...preferably something more cuddly than a fish.
Slaughtering and butchering your own meat really gives you an idea of where your food comes from. If anything, it also HELPS with compassion.
How? Here's how:
Warning: This is the story of the first 2 rabbits I ever killed

I have compassion for the animals I kill to eat, and often say a little prayer to them, thanking them for their sacrifice so that I may eat.
Modern man is far too removed from his food.

I agree as well. I hate touching and working with raw meat, but I absolutely love and can't get enough of the finished cooked stuff, and I feel dirty for it. I've never killed an animal in my whole life or butchered anything. For the past year I've been trying to get one of the guys from work to take me hunting. I really want to learn how to slaughter and prepare an animal. I think that's an important thing to experience and know, even if I never have to do it again.
