Gun talk.
I am trading my Glock 19 to a guy a couple towns over for a Chinese SKS and 400 rounds of ammo.
I have wanted to upgrade to a Glock 23 (same size gun, larger caliber bullet) for a while, but had no reason to since I had my Glock 19.
My friend had an SKS. It was nice. You can hunt deer with it, and the 7.62x39 round has some good stopping power against humans as well (if ever needed). It is the round the AK-47 takes after all.
I would just get an AK-47...but my stupid state has deemed them illegal...which I don't understand personally.
If I take the SKS...which looks like this.

Update the stock to a synthetic stock, and replace the built in 10 round magazine with a 20 or 30 round Tapco magazine...I get this:

Which doesn't look much different then this:

We now have a gun that takes the same round as the Ak-47, and has mags that hold the same amount of ammo as the Ak-47.
The ONLY real difference is the SKS can't be modified to full auto, but honestly...I'd be more afraid of a Semi-auto SKS. The barrel is longer and more accurate...so you are more likely to hit what you point at...unlike an Auto AK...where you just spray and pray.
Eh. Either way I am happy. I have my "SHTF" rifle and soon enough I will have a new, more powerful Glock.
If the SHTF never happens (shit hits the fan), then I still have 2 guns I like shooting and can use for other things.

Snake stuff!
There are some times where I feel brutal as a snake keeper...
I have this baby snake who is 5 weeks old and has yet to eat. His siblings have taken 5 meals...and he just hasn't. Well...I had a rat in the freezer (have to bury her...she died giving birth) so I cut the tail off the frozen rat, thawed it in hot water, and just jammed it down the snakes throat (as gentile as I could) until his natural "swallow prey" reflex kicked in. I will be damned if a $500 snake is dying on my watch!

Believe it or not training and muscle memory help a lot with full auto, having played with many full auto weapons myself

Good job with the snake! I didn't know you could force feed likethat. Hopefully the little guy will eat on his own from now on.
