Ok, so people know...
the unknown tests in micro...
We get 2 bacteria samples, that are numbered.
One is gram negative, one gram positive. First, we gram stain them and make slides...to determine morphology. Then we go through the list of what they could be...and make a flow chart of tests to determine what they are not...weeding out a bunch until we determine what they are.
Gram negative was easy. We inoculated a test that is 12 tests in one...and read the answers which gives us a code...the code tells us what we have.
Gram positive is harder.
First test for me was Catalase. Mine was positive. You can tell because it causes Peroxide to fizz.
Next was aerobic (oxygen) tolerance. Mine was facultative anaerobic (meaning they prefer no oxygen, but can grow with SOME oxygen present)
My last test is in the incubator...and that is a blood plate. (Sheep blood).
Depending of if the bacteria digests or doesn't digest the blood cells is what will tell me what I have.

were you stuck working with a partner? i was always terrible at working with partners in labs. lol.
But, yeah, now it would probably be too loud and too crowded.
