I don't know what it is...the way they are grabbing them, or what...but lately I have had a lot of bleeders...
both mice and rats...

I am actually thinking about pre-killing rats from now on before feeding so they don't suffer. I can gas them with CO2...
and whatever is not eaten I can freeze for later. I might switch my adults over to Frozen/thawed after this breeding season.
I mean...I know my snakes have to eat, and I accept that responsibility...but I don't like seeing things suffer when they don't have to, and that rat was suffering.
