Two of my eggs have started sinking in...which means...they're ready to hatch!
Today is day 54. It usually takes 58.
Date was rescheduled for Saturday.
I'm excited!

I hate money.
With that said...
I am trying to decide what I want to do with my snake collection.
Primarily breeding etc.
When I decided to get into this hobby to make some extra money, the ball python market was strong...
so I bought the least expensive morph I could find, and decided I wanted to breed it.
Two years later, that $500 snake I bought now sells for $125...
with everyone and their grandmother breeding pastels.
Now I still want to make super pastels, but I won't be able to do that until I have pastel females old enough to breed, and IF I hatch any, that will be two years.
By next year...pastels will be $75.
Basically...feeding the male I have now, and the females I plan to breed to him next season, will cost more than I would make back selling the babies.
So what I am thinking of doing is liquidating my collection.
Cutting it down to my pastel male, two pastel females (if I hatch any), that pretty female I have that I REALLY want to breed to see if she's genetic...
and possibly picking up a cinnamon female later on, depending on their prices, so I can make a Pewter.
I'd skip next breeding season...meaning I don't have to spend money I don't have building a bigger incubator, and the feeding bill would be cut in half...
more if I just breed some mice.
I can get $300-400 each for my big breeder females, $200 for the one I have yet to breed, and I don't know for my hatchlings.
That would pay off some back bills, and get my cinnamon female.
Then I'd have a managable collection.
I mean, I love my snakes and all, but I am poor right now...and in Fall...I become a college student, with a car, insurance, rising gas prices...and who knows what other expenses?
I really can't afford to feed and heat 15 snakes.
Plus, I'm not going to have as much time...and 5 cages are much easier to clean then 15...
I mean, once I am done with school, I plan on getting into snake breeding like whoa...
but I can't do that until I am taken care of...
and hopefully the damn economy will stabalize and ball python prices will go back up.
Plus...to be honest...even one breeding season makes me feel successful. As long as ONE of those eleven eggs hatches, I'll feel like I finally did something...
