One of my co-workers experienced something this past week which really exemplifies the concerns people had regarding this past election....she got a call from her neighbor on Tuesday. This is their story so far....
She's afraid now. She is afraid of losing her protection and rights under the law, because she lives with her partner and they are both lesbians. She has fear of being hurt or beaten up because of who she is. So when people wonder if this hits home or not....it does for me. She's a great co-worker. She's funny and keeps us in a good mood. And she's willing to help in anyway she can. For anyone to have to go through this, because people think they can do something like this, makes me weep for the state of my country and the state of humanity.
