so today, you could say, I accomplished a life goal. at age 35 (damn I'm old), I got onto my neighbor's dirtbike (250 cc engine) and traveled in a circle by myself. he's friends with a guy who owns a field, and I made it known last year I'm interested in learning to ride. so the path started with me learning to shift on a 3-wheeler. and today, I went on the bike.

so that goal is started...what's next? who knows....but riding around for about an hour isn't too bad for a first time, what do you think?

now I just have to get my hands on the video he shot of me going around and around..... eeek

I currently ride a Suzuki DRZ400E, converted to supermoto for the street. In it's stock off-road trim, it is a blast. I used to have a Honda CR250 dirt bike and it was terrible for the off-road riding I like (woods and trails). The DRZ is a tad on the heavy side for a dirtbike, but the electric start makes a world of difference in the woods. As a street bike, it is sufficient. It isn't going to burn up the highway, but it is a hoot around town.

Now, pure street bikes is a whole other discussion. I've ridden, raced and crashed my share. My SV650 was by far my favorite.

My guess is it was a Hyabusa. My friend has one and it was deceptively fast. Rode it for a few miles and then gave it back. Few motorcycles scare me. The fact that I went from 40 to 100mph in seconds told me I was on the wrong bike.
