so figuring things out with my car...think I'll look at changing the plugs and wires. at the very least, its something good to learn. one thing that sucks about not really having a father around (I was 9 1/2 months to the day when he left) is how I never learned things like this. I have a rudimentary understanding of cars, but now thanks to my neighbor, I now have an understanding for the following....

oil change
fluid check
changing drum and disc brakes
removing a rear wheel axle (2002 dodge neon)
removing a steering knuckle (2002 dodge neon)
replacing tie rod ends

now I want to add changing plugs and wires to the job...and perhaps learn more about where things are placed. the funny part was, while working on the rear (drum) brakes, my neighbor was "I bet you'll get a great paying job and never do this again." I told him I probably would do the work, for no other reason than the pride of looking at the job and going "I did that."

what else? last night, took out and dusted off the bass guitar to "play" it some. I use the quotes because, well, I have no formal musical training at all. or informal training. I have a basic understanding of notes going up and down and beats. and read the book "Bass Guitar for Dummies". for me, it was more of the hour or so of just going back and forth on the strings. finger picking away. and relaxing some. anyone know a good book or two for learning? or videos? its an acoustic/electric bass guitar, nothing too great (cost me about $100). but hey, it works for what I ask it to do!

and I think its about it. checked out a website I haven't visited in a long time. an artist came through my line one night at Wegmans, and being the overnight cashier who's noticed that people are more social at night, I usually have a quick conversation with the customer. if nothing else, they feel a little more valued than simply someone giving the company money. she gave me her business card. check out her website..

and that's all for now...woke up after about 4 1/2 hours of sleep. it would be bad...except, well, for the fact that on Wednesday, I slept from around midnight to 4 AM, then around 7 AM to 3 PM (or so). yes, lots of sleep!

I go to the forums on talkbass.com quite often, and there is a weath of information to be had.
As far as the car stuff, let me know. I can send you pretty much anything repair related to your car that you need.

Next time someone mentions the rapture to me I'm using your argument. biggrin

I miss jamming with people. I'm self taught also and I think that's a good way to be cuz you aren't stuck in someone else's way of doing things.
