well, I had the interview Friday. a bunch of Principals, the Superintendent, and Director of Student Services interviewing me. have I mentioned that I really hate the "Hypothetical" questions...like...
"Hypothetically, you get a call at 9 PM saying some students were in a car accident, even some fatalities, what do you do?"
my answer....first off, contact the Principal, then game plan from there. let's get the facts. meet early, we're going over what to do. what students are impacted? teachers? family. who can we get in here as mental health services (hey, if I'm the only counselor in the school, I can only do so much). at the end of the day, gather together a crisis intervention team and figure out what to do for the next day (and so forth).
"Hypothetically, 10 minutes before the end of school, a student says they are going to hurt or even kill themselves....what do you do?"
my answer....I need a second opinion, get the Principal in to hear what was said. and go from there. is it serious? does the student need hospitalization or someone responsible to release them to? stuff like that.
I really do hate those questions.
but my fingers are crossed....if I get the job, I'm the only counselor in the High School. that is graduating a class of 35. yeesh, talk about small! it would be a start, that's for sure. looking at apartments in the area....I can find a one bedroom for less than $500 a month! score!
so wish me luck...time to write a thank-you note to the Principal of the school that (if hired), I would be working at. and the Superintendent. I can only write to the others if their picture are posted on the website...time to check that out.
and do love how I was told that the district was looking for someone willing to fight for the students...I told them how, as an intern, I fought for a student's wishes. against administration.
and in other notes....hmmm.....not much else.
