and those of you who follow my adventures know, in 2007, I undertook a project of "hard scaping". I bought about 3 cubic yards of pea stone (or whatever), basically small round stones that you can walk on. I cut out underneath the raised deck we have in the back and made a border of bricks to edge things out, then filled it in with the pea stone. the goal was to make it look better. plus, underneatht the deck, it was just dirt and weeds with some grass poking through.
well, I ended up having stone left over, so I put them in some garbage cans. I got one moved behind the house, then realized it was just damn heavy, so I left the other 2 buckets on the side of the driveway.
well, yesterday, with the weather being somewhat cool, I decided to clean out the rosebush bed in front of the house and re-cut out the edge. it was a project I first took on a few years ago, trimming back the bushes and cleaning out the bed....something that had not been done in over 20 years that I know of. I expanded the bed out before, and filled it in with mulch dyed red.
this time around, I cleaned it out, just made the edge a little more defined (cut down into the dirt some), and used the stones instead as the covering.
and you get:
and
basically, I dumped 1 1/2 garbage cans full of stone into the bed....and got both garbage cans that were on the driveway emptied out.
and could explain why I was so tired last night!
