I say 13 going on 30 last night, I would have to agree with you that the first half was more entertining than the second.
But anything with Jennifer Garner in it and I turn into a drooling imbecile. She is so gorgeous.

i totally loved "spellbound"...so much preparation and pressure for the under 15 crowd. But cool.

My very favorite independent film in the docu-drama style was "Miss India Goergia"...i wish i could find a DVD copy, but what do ya do?

"Daughter from Danang" was all at once the best and most painful thing i have ever seen. Painful mostly because the adopted girl found her Vietnamese family, but within 1 week, the cultural differences and mutilated false expectations the daughter held ruined everything. But really...human drama in it's best and most bittersweet. Only watch if you feel like crying.

bought 3 sets of blinds .. still need to put them up ... ok so now they are up and I am able to be in the bedroom, living room and bathroom without being exposed ) YAY!

Regarding Winnipeg:

A place where restaurants serve breakfast, which people eat before walking out into the streets flanked by six-foot snowbanks.

A place where the sun goes down and there's so much room between everything that bouncing streetlight illuminates the outdoor sky.

A place where the financial district was built to form the windiest point in the western hemisphere.

A place which holds the title of 'world capital of slurpees', despite the city itself being frozen half the year.

A place where faces are distorted by the cold--a cold which transcends the distinction between celcius and fahrenheit (-40˚ ).

A place where university students' spring break was moved to the end of February; specifically, the week which had previously hosted the most sudent suicides out of the year.

A place where a someone may come along to help push your car out of the snow without ever saying a word.

A place where all of this is mutually forgotten and taboo for the summer months.

Even if Guy Maddin was attempting to mythologize his home town, it is a bizarre enough place to be called the world capital of sorrow.

NY is pretty cool in some ways ... its gotten too expensive and too crowded for me and my wife right now ... we are moving to Maine soon ... I am looking for places next week and jobs and such
