2) there is still theatre, museums, comedy clubs, good rest and on average MUCH better bars then NYC ... better prices, more down to earth, better average music, much mellower.

Is it just me or would it really make the Oscars run a LOT better, if they took out the original songs (which mostly suck) from the Oscar telecast and let people make a speech instead of talk fast for a few seconds.
Occasionally, these songs are interesting (like triplets of belleville or blame canada) but its usually just forgettable schmalz. Any thoughts??
