we were like candy
in the hands of a stranger
holding our faces
like lollipop handles
and the wind blew across
our feet and our spirits
but we would never look up
and we were never in danger
we had four feet below us
and one heart between us

and one god to redeem us
and the music all around us
was too loud to hear

when you blink
do you see the whole world
in your head?
do you look
all around you
or inside you instead?
do you really
want the whole world
to understand what you said?
do you think we should
live instead of wishing
to be dead?
do you think the sun
should be blue
and the sky
should be red?

do you ever look at anyone
immediately as a friend?

now i'll just keep dancing
as we both fade to black
while the wind is still
loyally staying at my back
and the strains of music
dramatically come crashing
to a loud and bitter end
well now my friend...
this is something i feel
