“Merit is a strange thing because it’s not always justly awarded. You can find merit in being ‘superior’ to somebody else, rather than the pure expression of merit. However, the chief component of the unhealthy ego is that the narrative that runs through the mind is often tainted by a familial facet of self love, whereby the purest expression of merit is justified by the ‘superiority’ of the self. One must behave accordingly, thus it’s an act of containment; to go in disguise. The ultra will shrink and the interior, grow. All a means to an end, it’s a device and can work with you or against you.”
