The truth hurts

Everyone is so afraid of a different point of view. If you say something they disagree with, you immediately become a threat and they will try to neutralise you. They don’t respect the fact that everyone has a different viewpoint/reality. Society has become so toxic that if you present a rational argument that differs to theirs, you are a liar. Why can’t we just agree to disagree instead of launching character assassinations? Why does a different viewpoint have to be so scary to so many people?

Surely, if you’re a reasonable person you can take a little criticism.

A lot of people genuinely struggle with it. It’s as though if they come up against some friction, they can’t stand it because then they’d have to look within and question all they perceive about their own reality.

I don’t mean to be harsh because I’m guilty of this too when I’m super stressed out, it’s just a human thing. But it has become so widespread and dominant.

Most people keep themselves constantly busy and the socially constructed norms which they have to follow because they don’t have time to make their own definitions for what makes people what they are make them collectively mentally ill.

That’s why films like Joker are considered so dangerous to the establishment — there are so many disillusioned with the way things are run that if people wake up and realise it, things will get very difficult for those in power.

It’s OK to be wrong. I might be wrong about this. I’m expressing a point of view and there’s nothing wrong with having a different point of view to somebody else, it just means you’re willing to analyse and question the world around you. And that’s very important in a culture like what we have today.

@dhyani I’d be interested to read some of your poetry, you seem like you have a lot of good thoughts to share. Are you published?

dhyani:
@heatherisaboynow, yes, I had some of my poetry published in an anthology called “Journey To The Stars” some years ago, but it was a very limited publication. I’m not currently working on getting my poetry published (I have a volume of 3 chapters of 13 poems each), as my primary focus is on my novels right now, but feel free to DM me if you really want to read a few samples. Also, I recommend filling  in your profile and posting a picture of yourself - SG is an awesome community, and you’ll find you’ll make a lot more friends if you have at least one picture of yourself in your profile (not that your current profile pic isn’t cool, but I’m pretty sure you have eyes...and no wings growing out of your head - and if you do, I’d love to see them!) 🤗
