Thanksgiving was kind if disapointing...my brother got drunk and pressed me with religion and politics-two things that we differ on greatly. It was really annoying...
Today, my mom and I went shopping though. It was so much fun. She wanted me to find my brother [who is in Iraq] a xmas card... It feels so weird to wish someone in such awful conditions, someone who just wants to come home...to have a good xmas. It made me really sad because this is the second xmas that he'll be gone. Xmas is suppose to be about family... but it's hard when family members are missing.
I don't know, it just seems like none of my friends really get it. Every time a death is reported in Iraq... we just hold our breaths... If we haven't heard anything in a few days we can go on...
He's the second brother to leave. My brother Matt left in May of last year... and I cried so much when he left. [he came back in December because he got hurt...and is now in KY]. Mike [the brother who is in Iraq now] left last December. When I was younger, we were extremely close... but when I was old enough to form opinions on things... we grew a part. He married into money and seemed to be embarassed by my family... Anyways, we hardly ever talked and never expressed any sign of affection... until he left. He huged me and in the first time in years-with tears in his eyes-he told me how much he loved me. It was the hardest thing ever.
I suppose I'm being sentimental and writing about this because the holidays are here... and I feel more alone now then I normally do. It sucks for sure.
But... there's too much beauty in the world to get wrapped up in being sad. I love you all very much...
and must apologize for such a sappy update. Sorry...
