Thanks for all the birthday wishes all. I had a pretty fun time yesterday despite having no clue where to go. The goal was to get drunk and the mission was accomplished. San Francisco certainly has no shortage of bars, but I feel it may take some lengthy research to find the right ones. At some point during the night, my comrades and I found...

I just got back from playing a fairly positive show. 100% homegrown Rock N' Roll. I think I got a little too excited mid-solo on one of our songs, because I ended up leaping on top of a precariously balanced monitor. The monitor wobbled and toppled over, I (without missing a beat) toppled with it, landing the small of my back on the corner of...

Last night the right front tire of my car blew out while I was on the off ramp. A little earlier and I would have suffered the experience of a tire blowing out on the freeway. I rode pretty much on the rim just around the corner and parked in the neerest parking lot. The hole was about the size of a baseball. Layers of...

Bummer. I've had the blowout on the highway thing happen and it not so much fun. On the plus side, you got to visit lovely Rhonnert Park.

I hung out with an old friend last night and we talked until the sun came up. I woke up to another exciting day in the sunset around 12:30 in the afternoon and went for a run. I came home briefly and started a load of laundry before going grocery shopping, now I have food and clean clothes and sheets. That's nice. I got home...

I like Godspeed!; My favorite track on that album was track 2, disc 2; the one that starts with the wierd country music with the melody from "Rock-a-bye-Baby" , but he's singing about killing the baby and all.

Ha! Ha! At least you have friends; I just moved...to the third major city I've lived in the last year! (Chicago)...ah, well...I keep hoping I'll just kind of "run into" John Mcentyre or somebody, and he'll introduce me to a whole bunch of other people; hey, wishful thinking never hurt anybody, right? biggrin

Tonight, in honor of me settling in to my new place, I'm having a house-warming party cocktail social/soiree. Because I have to buzz people in at the gate, I figured it would be fun to have a password, and of course one thing led to another and the entire occasion became spy themed. Guests were asked to attend in their best spy attire, I will...

Saw the Little Wings and Mount Eerie last night. Very good.
I will not have internet for about a week, so until then I will leave your mind with this to grapple: The ice cream truck came by today around 6:30 as usual, playing "Chicken in the Hay" as usual, but this time with a twist. There was a drum machine, with hand claps and...

Sometimes I relate too much to Curb Your Enthusiasm, and I get mildly distressed. I have an almost super-human ability to put my foot in my mouth and place myself in ambiguous, socially precarious positions.

I was remembering the first time I failed my driving test about 3 years ago. I was approaching the door of the DMV with my sister, when a large man...

oh my freaking goodness, I fucking LOVE that show! significant portions of work this semester were ignored in order to watch this show for hours on end. oh my god and I totally am Larry David sometimes too. But I've already concluded I am an old Jewish man anyway- the precise makeup would be: Woody Allen + Charlie Kaufman + Larry David. ahhhh. I failed my driving test too. and the written blush

Today I got my car smog checked. It cost $85. While attempting to navigate out of the parking lot with the nearly debilitating hangover I have today, I grazed the the front left fender of my car against the front right of someone elses car who happened to be standing in the doorway of the office watching the whole thing. I just got my new...

I couldn't agree with you more I love the aethestic qualities of lo-fi recordings. Give me vinyl any day over cd's. But it takes an amazing band to be able pull it off like some bands have in the past and most bands, including my own(past tense), can't do that with out the help of modern technology. And once you start mixing analog with digital your in for a muddy mess unless you're using the most high end equipment. which in turn cost money. Now if I could get my hands on a reel to reel I'd be in recording heaven. But again you are right in saying it is all based on a song. If the song has nothing to begin with no amount of recording or engineering work can bring it to life. While some of the best songs no matter how shitty they're recorded still sound great.

Yesterday I went record shopping at Ameoba. The girl who rang me up complimented my well manicured fingernails. That made me feel strangely good. Then I went to see Elf Power and they put on a fantastic show. I just got back from taking my last final for the semester. It was my anthro final and I'm pretty sure I kicked its ass. I just...

The day I got home 3 different people asked me if I went to Amoeba, which I hadn't.. then they were all shocked and disappointed in me.
koleeta:
which Amoeba? I just went to this record store yesterday that I need to ravage for all their 80s vinyl. I was only there for 15 minutes, I'll need about an hour and a half.

Hey are you coming to SuMo?
