Today I got my car smog checked. It cost $85. While attempting to navigate out of the parking lot with the nearly debilitating hangover I have today, I grazed the the front left fender of my car against the front right of someone elses car who happened to be standing in the doorway of the office watching the whole thing. I just got my new ensurance card in the mail and forgot to put it in my car, so when the guy asked for proof of ensurance I couldn't provide it to him. There was pretty much no damage to my car, but a nasty black streak on his, so to resovle the matter I offered to pay his smog check fee as well. He accepted. After that fiasco I realized I was hungry... and broke, so I swung by a Taco Bell. Now I get to listen to the symphonic sounds of indigestion.

I couldn't agree with you more I love the aethestic qualities of lo-fi recordings. Give me vinyl any day over cd's. But it takes an amazing band to be able pull it off like some bands have in the past and most bands, including my own(past tense), can't do that with out the help of modern technology. And once you start mixing analog with digital your in for a muddy mess unless you're using the most high end equipment. which in turn cost money. Now if I could get my hands on a reel to reel I'd be in recording heaven. But again you are right in saying it is all based on a song. If the song has nothing to begin with no amount of recording or engineering work can bring it to life. While some of the best songs no matter how shitty they're recorded still sound great.
